Its true story, however, began during Operation Cavalier near Antwerp in June 1946.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eCaught in a devastating ambush by Axis heavy Panzermechs, Bertie became separated from its unit in the chaos of battle. As British forces regrouped and the enemy withdrew, Bertie was listed among the lost. Yet, it had not been destroyed.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eDamaged and low on power, Bertie slowly made its way back to the battlefield, only to find its detachment gone. Rather than shutting down, its primitive systems adapted in an unexpected way. Scavenging from fallen automatons, it replaced damaged parts, gathered power cells, and armed itself before setting off alone.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eNo longer just a factory-made unit, Bertie has become something entirely different.
