Cockroach Poker – Bluff & Deceit Card Game

In **Cockroach Poker**, bluffing and misdirection are your only weapons. Players pass “creature” cards to one another, claiming they are a certain type — and the recipient must decide whether to believe or challenge the claim. Simple to learn, it’s a high‑interaction hand management game where the goal is *not* to lose.

🎯 Gameplay Overview

  • Players: 2–6
  • Playtime: ~20 minutes
  • Recommended Age: 8+
  • Game Type: Bluffing • Hand Management • Social Deduction

📖 How It Plays

At the start, the deck of 64 creature cards is shuffled and dealt nearly evenly to all players. On your turn, you select one card from your hand, place it face down, pass it to another player, and declare which creature it is (you may lie). The receiving player has two choices:

  • **Accept the card**: they call “true” or “false” and then reveal it. If their judgment was correct, the passing player takes the revealed card face up before them. If it was wrong, the receiver keeps it face up.
  • **Peek and pass**: they look at the card secretly, then pass it face down to a third player (who hasn't seen it yet), making a new or repeated claim about its type. This continues until only one player remains who must accept and judge.

The player who ends up keeping the revealed card face up (from a failed challenge) begins the next round. The game ends when one player has either:

  • Four cards of the same creature type face up in front of them (that player loses), or
  • Unable to pass a card because their hand is empty (that player loses).

Everyone else is considered a winner in that case.

🌍 Scenario Variety

Cockroach Poker has no modular expansions or scenario variants built into the base game. Its replay value comes from shifting player dynamics, changing bluffing strategies, and varying opponent choices each round.
