Chained in a special prison with an energy field that uses the cosmic power of it's occupant to sustain itself and receiving constant repairs from attending scarabs, the vault houses a shard of a particularly powerful C'tan shard. By manipulating this energy field, ruthless Necron Commanders can amplify the already mighty powers of the C'tan as it goes about laying waste to enemy forces. Though a Necron commander must take care to protect the vault, for a containment failure is both spectacular and terrifying to behold.

Lying dormant beneath the earth until it senses airborne intruders, Obelisks contain a gravity singularity that they use to silently levitate into the air, which it may use to distort the gravity around itself, and send enemy flyers hurtling to their doom. Infantry that stray too close to the Obelisk will find no reprieve, as crackling tesla orbs reduce armour and flesh to charred ash.
