A truce exists between the several great houses that are permitted to conduct mining operations on Dune, in order to ensure one does not become too powerful. But with a priceless mineral on the line, political treachery is extremely common. Then there are the planet's powerful sandstorms, and gargantuan predatory dune worms lurking beneath the ground to contend with. Yet whoever controls the flow of Spice, owns all of civilised space!
